I thought I'd participate in a Music Monday again. This is my favorite Christmas song. December 1992 was a very hard month for me. I was turning thirteen and, to make a long story short, when I listened to Amy Grant's Christmas album that was released that year, this song seemed to match perfectly what I was feeling and made me feel better. Those are the best types of songs!
LYRICS:
Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee;
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies.
Well, I'm all grown-up now,
And still need help somehow
I'm not a child,
But my heart still can dream.
So here's my lifelong wish,
My grown-up Christmas list.
Not for myself,
But for a world in need.
No more lives torn apart,
That wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
And everyone would have a friend,
And right would always win,
And love would never end.
This is my grown-up Christmas list.
As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree.
Well heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul.
What is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth.

I like the words to that song. It doesn't sound familiar, but I wonder if I heard it, that it might stike a chord in me.
Jennifer, I encourage you to watch the music video. It has been sung by many different artists over the years, but this is my fav version. If you listen to Christmas music at all then I assure you that you've heard it!
The song didn't sound familiar but we don't get a lot of Amy Grant here in the Small Town. Thank you for sharing it.
