It's hard to see those that we care about in pain. My husband's childhood best friend has Multiple Sclerosis. He was diagnosed as a little boy but led a normal life until he reached his upper teens/young adulthood. As the years have gone by, he has rapidly gone downhill. My husband is not the type to get emotional or talk/show his feelings, but I can tell that he is crushed whenever we hear news about his old friend.
Even though they grew apart in high school, I noticed a sentimental/nostalgic vibe when they saw each other at their five year class reunion in 2003 (the last time that my husband saw him). I know how fond I am of the memories of my childhood friends, and even though these two are "men" now, I don't doubt that they still hold each other in a special place in their hearts.
Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks normal body tissue. As of this time, there is no known cause or cure. However, even if MS itself is not a hereditary disease, 10% to 20% of people suffering from it have MS cases in their extended families. With more education, there is hope to putting an end to this disease.
