The other day I scared my husband. I was talking about our plans for the next month and said "and then it's Valentine's Day. . ."
"What?! When is Valentine's Day?! This weekend?!"
I rolled my eyes. "No, silly, it's still January."
He could have blown up an entire balloon with the air he sighed.
Let's face it, Valentine's Day is easy for some, hard for others. Many people I know don't even celebrate it because "we should be romantic every day" blah blah blah! I will always be a hopeless romantic and since Valentine's Day is the day my husband proposed (see, he thinks he's worse than he is) I like having a day that we're required to focus on the two of us. Similar to how Christmas is meant to celebrate Jesus' birthday (even though Christians are Christians year-round), so should Valentine's Day be a day that couples celebrate cupid (romance)!
I don't think it's necessary to spend tons of money on a gift--just something to show your loved one that you're thinking about them extra that day. I like to celebrate it too, thou we keep it simple due to our lifestyle (hubby is a cop so sometimes is working that day).
