Dear Logan,
Two years ago you entered this world not breathing. After a few moments, the hospital staff were able to get you to cry. They told me I could only hold you for a minute because you were still not breathing normally so they were going to take you to the NICU. But, when I wrapped my arms around you and started talking to you, you opened your eyes, looked right at me, and your breathing became normal! You became what life is all about. Everything I'd done up until that point seemed minor and if I did nothing else again that was okay. I'd reached my highest point in life!
The great news is that two years have passed and those feelings haven't worn off. You have continued to be my definition of happiness - I can't imagine there being anything better in life than being your mom. During your first year I often said "these are the years I'm going to look back on when I'm 80 and say they were the best." I've never found anything in my life to come as easily as being a mom. That's not to say it's easy - no! - but I've never been better at anything in my life. I'm sure we'll both question that some day, LOL, and I'm sure I'll make mistakes, but I'm so proud of who you are and our relationship so far. It's been an absolute blast with very few bad or down days. You make me smile and laugh every single day. We hug and kiss every single day.
I have been in the best mood this weekend because today is truly a celebration. This is one of those weekends we can just freeze in time as far as I'm concerned because we are all so happy!
You have a wonderful soul. . .so good, appreciative, sweet, and wise already. I can't wait to meet the little boy that you're becoming :-)
Love,
Mommy
