HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
I thought it'd be fun to find pictures of the Halloweens Joe and I have celebrated so far as a married couple. . .
2003: For years it had been Joe's tradition to carve an artistic jack-o-lantern and I was finally able to witness his masterpiece :)That year we had a website and I wrote: On Friday, October 31st Joe and I celebrated our first Halloween as a married couple! We'd spent the previous weekend decorating our place and buying a pumpkin. Joe carved a ghost picture while I baked the seeds, as well as made Halloween sugar cookies and brownies. On Halloween night we ate Godfather's pizza & breadsticks while watching movies!
2004 was very similar - in my journal I wrote: Tomorrow (Sunday, October 31) will be our first Halloween in our house so I have no idea how many kids we’ll have, hopefully I have enough candy! We’re excited for our first trick or treaters! Today, Joe carved our pumpkins and I baked the seeds. We ate supper at Godfather’s, yum yum.
I was shocked to read the next day's entry, considering now in 2009 we've already had snow this month: After church Joe and I came back to our house and grilled out. We had filet mignon while watching haunted house stories on television. We were disappointed that there really weren’t that many trick-or-treaters! We only had between 10-15, so we had a TON of candy leftover."
In 2005 Halloween was on a Monday. We celebrated with our first of two dogs, Bella. I remember making taco salads for supper and watching a scary movie on TV. We had double the amount of trick-or-treaters as the year prior so it was better - but we still had leftover candy. As usual, while Joe had carved his pumpkins, I'd baked the seeds:
In 2006 we were invited spur-of-the-moment to a costume party so I quickly put together this costume - I was a red clock - haha (that year Halloween was on a Tuesday and there was nothing to watch on TV so we just did our annual "Joe carved the jack-o-lanterns while I baked the seeds"):
2007 was our first Halloween in our current house and also when I was pregnant with Logan :) (It was a Wednesday and I felt too yucky to really enjoy that year. It was the first year I didn't bake the seeds or make treats. I let Joe hand out all of the candy while I laid on the couch and watched a movie. We have about 60 trick-or-treaters where we live now.)
2008 - The best of them all because it was Logan's first Halloween!!!! (It was a Friday; my post last year about it is titled Update.)
Check back tonight for HALLOWEEN 2009! :)

love it!! we're carving our pumpkin today AND celebrating my hub's birthday!! Have a wonderful day!!
Oh I am so excited that you bake pumpkin seeds. How do you do that?? No one in my family knows really how to and I really wanted to this year but didn't know how myself. Now I will finally get to know how and I can do this next year!!! Logan was adorable last year at halloween!!!! Your pumpkins are awesome every year it looks like the books really work for you guys. I just think with having Dalton running and wanting our attention it was a little too time consuming with them compared to just eyeballing it. Yours look great though I wish our pumpkins looked that awesome!!!
That's awesome that you reflect on all those past Halloween years. Loved sharing the memories.
