More Tidbits

Continuing our update from last Thurs & Fri. . .

Logan is kind of prudish when it comes to showing skin, LOL. When he sees anyone wearing a tank top or a girl in a sleeveless dress/guy with no shirt he gets a horrid look on his face, points, and says "uh-oh!" He says it over and over with furrowed eyebrows until we reassure him that it's okay. It will be interesting to take him to a public pool for the first time (as is our plan this summer), haha!

My cousin Kate who is expecting a baby this October (who lost her first baby, a son, in October '07 and had a daughter New Years Eve 2008), found out this baby is another girl!

No updates with Logan's potty-training. . .he still tells me immediately after he's gone poop or pee which is good, but he's not able to hold it to tell me in advance to take him to his toddler toilet yet (and has still yet to pee in there).

He's still doing well with me brushing his teeth again since using the non-flouride toothpaste (and we sing our made-up song: "Say ahhh [echo: ahhh] - brush em brush em brush em, left side, right side, top teeth, bottom teeth, tongue!") As I said in my post, Where Is Fall/Autumn? his teeth are the perfect size, shape, in the right place, and are so white! It's too bad he can't just keep his baby teeth, because if he's like Joe & me then once his adult teeth come in he'll need braces. I used to have super white teeth but now they're just average. Joe had lots of cavities his first time at the dentist as a little boy, but then not again until we were married (he had four that year). I've never had a cavity and heard often times it is genetic. So it'll be interesting to see if Logan's teeth change or maybe he will be lucky and they'll stay the same.

In my post, The Twos Are Here, I mentioned that I was looking for a toddler pillow. My mom bought me one by NoJo so we gave it to Logan to start using tonight! Awhile back she also bought us a temperature checker (i.e. wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer or temperature gage found at Wal-Mart or other convenience stores) for his room which we love because it tells us the exact temperature that Logan is compared to what we are (which is always different and so we adjust our thermostat accordingly). We never ended up buying him a night-light because after daylight savings his room was still light at night when he went to bed and bright early in the morning, and we noticed that he does better the darker his room. Because, although his bedtime these days is 8:30 pm, he's been waking up at 6 am and then sleeping in our bed until 7:00 am. He goes down for his nap at 1:00 pm and sleeps anywhere from an hour-and-a-half to four hours! At Babysitter's house he takes a two hour nap (two days a week) but at our house there are always two days that he takes a three hour nap and two days that he takes a four hour nap. The other day of the week is a toss up - usually an hour-and-a-half or two-and-a-half hours.

I saw back on my post If My Mom'd Had A Blog that I stopped taking a nap when I was three which is very common, but I'm hoping that since Logan has always loved to sleep he will continue his naps longer than I did! (They say once babies are 4 months old, 14 hrs of sleep per day is average/what doctors say is healthy, then sometime between 1 and 2 yrs old it changes to 13 hrs a day, by 3 years old 12 hrs a day, age 4 it's 11 hrs a day, and age 5 until age 12 it is approximately 10 hrs a day - then switches to 8 hrs through adulthood.) In Two Weeks Til Spring I mentioned that things had changed with Joe's job this year and so this summer we would decide whether to stay in Omaha for the next twenty-some years (we've always felt strongly that if we are still here when Logan's in first grade then we are staying until all of our children are graduated from high school because we don't want to move once Logan is older than six years old). Even though we've loved living in Omaha the past seven years and would be fine staying twenty more, I had written that a move was looking likely due to Joe's job - maybe even as early as fall 2011. Well, we won't know exactly when until it actually happens (ideally, I would like to have had baby #2 here with my same doctor who delivered Logan) but Joe's already "casually" looked at the job opportunities in the Chicago suburbs and North Carolina (the two areas we're interested in, as mentioned my posts Happy New Year and Finally.)

I had originally said that we had decided to save NC for retirement, but now Joe is pushing NC more than the Chicago area (there is a big software engineer area called Research Triangle between Charlotte and Raleigh) because of the perfect-sounding weather. But, since our ideal trip to NC was in another area (Asheville) five years ago, we've decided we better visit the exact area before Joe starts applying. Same thing with the Chicago suburbs (we've been there but not with "living there" on our minds). Depending on where we get the better vibe and/or where Joe learns of a better job, the place we raise our family will probably be one or the other.

On another subject, in that "two weeks til spring" post I mentioned that I would be going back to brown hair this summer (since I went blonde in January but it makes my hair too unhealthy [the hair stuff I bought with my friend Stacy didn't fix it unfortunately], not to mention is too expensive for me anymore). So, as soon as I get back from visiting my friend Sarah out in Seattle I'm back to all natural. . .maybe until I'm all gray!

I can't wait to stop having my eyebrows waxed as well (something else I'm tired of spending money on). I guess I'm not as lucky as my esthetician thought when she first saw my supposedly good eyebrows :p Because, while it only took Rightie a couple of months to take on a new design, it's been six months and Leftie is still not done. I probably should have waited until I was pregnant and maybe that would have helped, LOL. But hopefully by then Leftie will be done and I can do a good job plucking this time and not need them waxed anymore (I haven't plucked one strand since November).

In Only Two Months Until Two I wrote that Logan was showing an interest in TV/cartoons for the first time. But he only watched Thomas The Train or Sesame Street - only when Elmo was on. But, as of this month he watches any and all cartoons for as long as I let him/have the TV on.

He expects us to go somewhere every day so this is starting to put the pressure on me because there are some days where I just want to hang out at home. But he says, "Car! Car! Car!" He doesn't care where we go, as long as we go somewhere!

In Andrea & Julie/Julia, I said that I had stopped writing online freelance articles but would still use my blog for income. However, once I accepted the print magazine position the end of March I decided to remove myself from all of the "blog job sites" as well. I might still write a sponsored post here & there (so will keep my disclosure up), but otherwise I have resigned from my almost two year position of being a paid blogger.

In 2010 Now In Progress, I wrote that two of Logan's toenails had fallen off. I am happy to report that a couple of months ago he finally stopped dragging his feet on his own and his toenails look normal for the first time in his life.

Did you see/hear the news that Brittany Murphy's widower died?! I wrote a post about her death (she was formerly my favorite actress) back in December (RIP Brittany Murphy), and now just five months later - last night her husband passed away from a heart attack at the age of 39. Crazy.

Tomorrow I will continue our update (from my 2009 posts). I will end today's post by saying I'm so excited to start reading Emily Giffin's new book, Heart Of The Matter which I bought last week. She is my favorite author (since reading her other four books: Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, and Love The One You're With. The first book is being made into a movie with Ginnifer Goodwin which should be in theaters next year)! :-)

great pictures of Logan! it'd be interesting to know how he'd do at the public pool.
yeah, that was a sad thing to know that brittany's widower also died five months after she passed away. well, then, somehow they'd be reunited in heaven...

I think that is so cute that Logan is so modest! I'd be interested in reading how y'all figured out that the lack of clothing was what he was referring to when he said, "uh-oh"...
I can't believe you never had any cavities! Omg! How lucky you are!

I've been meaning to write to you about Emily Giffin's new book. I barely discovered it the other day when I was perusing the book section at WalMart! I couldn't believe it. I feel like I've been living in a hole for me not to have known!
I can't wait to read it either!

I think it's so neat that you and Joe get to consider moving somewhere else. What a wonderful opportunity and experience! I would eventually like to move somewhere else as well... I guess we'll see what the future holds...

Great updates! Looks like some exciting changes are in store.
PS: I actually applied for a job in Raleigh last week. Never been there either, but I hear it's nice :)
